Bathrooms you’re
in no hurry to leave.

Bathroom renovations across the Adelaide Hills and Adelaide

The room you start and end every day in, and the one most renovations get wrong. Warm underfoot through a Hills winter, quiet to look at, and waterproofed properly so it stays that way.

01 / What it is

Calm rooms over sound substrate.

Everything you can see in a bathroom sits on top of the part you can’t. Get the falls, the membrane or the substrate wrong and no amount of good tiling will save it.

We lay the waterproofing to AS 3740, in full coats with the right cure time between them, photograph it before the screed goes down, and set the tiles out so the cuts land where nobody looks. It takes longer than rushing it, and it is why our bathrooms stay dry.

02 / What we focus on

What we focus on.

Practical layout and circulation.

A bathroom is a small room with a lot in it. We will help you work out where the shower, the vanity and the door swing can actually go before anything gets ordered.

Waterproofing and drainage detail.

Falls to the waste, the membrane, and the junctions where the walls meet the floor. That is the part that fails, and it is the part you cannot see once it is tiled.

Tile selection and set-out.

We set the tiles out before we start, so the cuts land in the corners rather than down the middle of a wall.

Lighting, ventilation and comfort.

A bathroom that does not vent properly will grow mould no matter how well it is built. Lighting and extraction get sorted while the walls are still open.

Storage and joinery solutions.

Niches in the shower, a vanity that fits the room rather than the catalogue, and somewhere to put the towels.

Getting the fixtures to line up.

Tapware, wastes and the tile grid all have to agree with each other. That comes from setting out early, not from fixing it later.

03 / Process4 stages

How we run a bathroom renovation.

01

Site consultation.

Site visit and consultation to understand your goals, budget range and constraints.

02

Design and selections.

Layout, tiles, fittings and joinery pinned down, with lead times checked before we start.

03

Construction phase.

Careful construction including demolition, waterproofing, tiling and trade coordination.

04

Finishing and handover.

Final fit-off and detailing, with a thorough check before handover.

05 / Where we build

Hills bathrooms run colder than most owners expect.

A bathroom in Stirling or Crafers sits under tree cover on a south-facing slope for much of the year. That is why underfloor heating and a way of getting light into the room come up on nearly every Hills bathroom we quote, and far less often on the flat.

The other constant is the age of the plumbing. In homes of this vintage the waste rarely sits where the new layout wants it, so re-grading the floor to a relocated outlet is part of the job rather than a variation on top of it.

We build across the Adelaide Hills — Stirling, Aldgate, Crafers, Bridgewater, Mylor, Hahndorf, Oakbank, Balhannah, Woodside, Lobethal, Charleston, Mount Barker and Nairne — and into the Fleurieu at Victor Harbor and Goolwa, and Adelaide’s eastern suburbs around Burnside.

06 / QuestionsBefore you call

Before you get in touch.

Waterproofing, tile set-out, heated floors, and how long the room is out of action.

Ask a question
Do you manage waterproofing and compliance?

Yes. Waterproofing is carried out by licensed trades and installed to AS 3740, as called up by the National Construction Code. We photograph the completed membrane, coordinate inspections where required, and hand over the certificates with the job.

Can you rework the layout to improve functionality?

Yes. Fixtures can usually move, although shifting the floor waste means re-grading the floor to it. We will tell you what that adds before you commit to it.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

It depends on the scope and on product lead times, which catch most people out. We will give you a realistic schedule up front and tell you how long the room is unusable.

Do you help with selecting tiles and fixtures?

We are not designers, but we have been in a lot of bathrooms. We will tell you what is practical to install, what is a nuisance to clean, and where a selection is going to cause a problem on site. If you want a designer involved, we can point you at one.

Can we use our own fixtures or vanity?

In many cases, yes. We’ll confirm suitability, dimensions and installation requirements during planning.
